Former U.S. President Donald Trump surpassed current President Joe Biden by an 8-point margin among registered voters in Michigan in a survey for the upcoming 2024 elections. A CNN poll released on Friday revealed that 50% of voters would support Trump if the presidential election were held today, while 42% would back Biden. Additionally, 5% of respondents indicated they would support someone else, and 2% stated they do not intend to vote.
The poll also showed that Biden's job approval rating remained steady at 35%, the same percentage it was in November. Furthermore, 40% of registered voters surveyed in Michigan expressed a positive opinion of Trump, compared to 33% who said the same about Biden. Biden flipped Michigan in the 2020 presidential election after Trump won it in 2016.
The president easily won the Democratic primary in Michigan last month, but an option on the ballot for "uncommitted" received over 100,000 votes following a campaign urging voters to send a message to Biden about their discontent with his handling of the Gaza conflict. In average polling from the Hill/Decision Desk regarding the 2024 elections in Michigan, Trump leads Biden 45.4% to 42.1%.
