Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett commented on Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi's announcement not to sign an energy-water exchange agreement with Israel. Bennett wrote on the platform "X": "If Jordan wants to make its residents thirsty, that's their right," noting that his government was the one that promoted this agreement. He added that Israel has the energy sources it needs, but Jordan does not have enough water for its residents, emphasizing: "We do not want that, and we do not need that." According to Bennett, Israel initiated "as good neighbors, the desalination of seawater, and the flow of desalinated water into the Jordan River, to allow Jordan to pump more water," stating that this was done "to help our thirsty neighbors." Safadi had mentioned on Thursday that peace treaties "will become documents gathering dust" due to Israel's "war crimes against humanity" in Gaza, adding that the "occupation" has killed the environment of peace in the region, and that Jordan "will not sign a water-energy exchange agreement with the occupation."
