Video: Messi Sparks Controversy by Mocking Injured Player

Argentinian Lionel Messi again appeared in an official match with his team Inter Miami against Salt Lake in the first match of the new season of Major League Soccer, on Thursday morning. Although Messi did not score, he was present in his team's two goals, assisting the first goal scored by Robert Taylor in the 39th minute and contributing, alongside Uruguayan Luis Suárez, to the second goal by Diego Gómez seven minutes before the end of regular time.

As usual, the Argentine star displayed his exceptional ability to maneuver past defenders in several moments that circulated on social media. However, the most notable was his unusual way of passing by an injured player. Messi's behavior sparked widespread debate on social media, with many accusing him of lacking sportsmanship due to his actions towards the injured player while continuing the attack during the player's fall.

The 36-year-old created several opportunities for his teammates, but unfortunately, they failed to capitalize on them, resulting in him having only one assist. In this way, Inter Miami won against Salt Lake 2-0 in the opening match of the 2024 Major League Soccer season. Miami will travel to face David Beckham's former team, Los Angeles Galaxy, next Sunday in California.
