Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khalifi has backed away from a threat he previously made to striker Kylian Mbappé should he join Real Madrid. Multiple sources have reported that Mbappé has informed Al-Khalifi of his intention to leave for free next summer.
The French network Foot Mercato stated that Mbappé is no longer considered an important player in the eyes of coach Luis Enrique; he has substituted him three consecutive times in matches since the announcement of Mbappé's departure from Paris.
Al-Khalifi reportedly told those close to him, "If Mbappé signs with Real Madrid, he will not play again." However, he has since rescinded this threat and granted coach Enrique full authority to manage Mbappé's participation in games as he sees fit.
A source within the club confirmed that the relationship between Mbappé and Enrique is no longer good, and neither side can tolerate the other in private encounters, even though there has been no verbal conflict between them.
Foot Mercato noted that removing Mbappé from the starting lineup or substituting him is Enrique's way of asserting his authority, but there is a risk associated with this approach during the crucial phase of PSG's season.
