The head of the Political Council affiliated with the “Ansar Allah” group in Yemen (the Houthis), Mahdi al-Mashat, sent a message to Saudi Arabia today regarding its negotiation path in Yemen. Al-Mashat stated that "Saudi Arabia should move from the square of de-escalation to the square of peace requirements according to the roadmap that was reached." He added, "Saudi Arabia must prioritize its national interests over American interests concerning its negotiation path in Yemen." The Houthi Political Council president emphasized that "Saudi Arabia is obliged to proceed positively to complete the negotiation path without delay or hesitation."
Earlier, the "Ansar Allah" movement denied the resumption of negotiations with Saudi Arabia, which leads the Arab coalition in Yemen, blaming the United States and Britain for the failure to reach a peace agreement. Yemen has witnessed a fragile calm since the UN announced on October 2, 2022, that the Yemeni government and the "Ansar Allah" group had not reached an agreement to extend and expand the six-month ceasefire.
