Milhem Khalaf Reveals Deputies Who Will Not Participate in Session to Extend Rank of Major General

Deputy Milhem Khalaf called for vigilance against falling into the trap set by the Israeli enemy, which may lead to wars against Lebanon. He emphasized the necessity of making all decisions that would spare Lebanon any war it cannot withstand.

In an interview with "Voice of Lebanon," Khalaf stressed the importance of adopting a unifying national stance that protects Lebanon's supreme interests. He noted that the situation in Gaza reflects the failure of international legitimacy in implementing international resolutions regarding Palestine, indicating that there are more than 133 international and United Nations resolutions condemning the Israeli entity, which does not respect international law or humanitarian law.

Khalaf asserted that "major powers must take into account that what is happening today in Palestine is a continuation of violations that cannot be accepted from the Israeli entity, representing 'a crime against God' not just a crime against humanity," pointing to the importance of not applying double standards in the enforcement of laws and international charters, which imposes an unacceptable logic of injustice.

On another note, Khalaf explained that he and other change-oriented deputies would not participate in any session called by President Nabih Berri if it includes extending the rank of Major General. He said, "There is a fundamental constitutional position taken when the session was called to extend the term of the Director General of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, and the situation has not changed now. The priority is to reconstruct authority that begins with electing a president for the republic, and any session that is not for the election is unconstitutional and violates the provisions of Article 75; there should be no selectivity between one session and another."
