The Ukrainian Air Force announced that "air defenses and mobile groups for intercepting drones shot down 30 out of 31 Russian drones over 11 regions across the country today, Saturday." It noted in a statement that "the Russian army launched Iranian-made Shahed drones from three different directions in Russia, targeting 11 different areas in central, northern, and southern Ukraine."
The Air Force indicated that "fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile units, and mobile groups for intercepting drones thwarted the Russian drone attack." Kyiv military administration chief Serhiy Popko stated, "This is the sixth aerial attack on Kyiv since the beginning of the month." He added, "Tonight, after three days of ballistic threats, the enemy is again launching Shahed drones towards the capital. The drones attacked in groups, in waves, and from different directions."
Popko mentioned that "there were no reports of casualties or serious damage in Kyiv." Witnesses from Reuters reported "explosions echoing throughout the Ukrainian capital as air defense units intercepted Russian drones." Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that "anti-aircraft units handled the situation as groups of drones flew near the city." There have been no reports yet of injuries or substantial damage. Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud explosions shortly after midnight. They added that sirens sounded on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, but the police on the opposite bank warned residents through loudspeakers about the air attack.
