Israeli Secret Proposal for Arab-Led Administration in Gaza

As the war in Gaza continues, the American newspaper "Wall Street Journal" reported today, Thursday, that Arab officials described as knowledgeable stated that Arab countries rejected an Israeli proposal to establish a civilian administration led by Arabs that would last for years in the Gaza Strip once the current war against Hamas concludes. The officials, whose names were not disclosed by the newspaper, mentioned that the Israeli proposal was raised secretly and that Israel expressed through it a desire to retain the option of conducting military operations against Hamas under the umbrella of the proposed civilian administration. It was noted that Arab officials confirmed the rejection of Arab governments to the idea of establishing a civilian administration led by Arabs in Gaza. They added that some Arab governments believe it is necessary for Hamas to have a continuing role in Gaza after the war. The newspaper also attributed to an unnamed Israeli official the statement: "There are talks. The problem is that we have not reached a solution yet despite a long time passing. This leaves us stuck in the quagmire of Gaza."
