Gantz Requests Israeli Government to Form an Investigation Committee on the War in Gaza

Israeli Army Radio reported today, Sunday, that war cabinet member Benny Gantz has officially requested the government to establish a commission of inquiry into the war in the Gaza Strip and the events leading up to it. The radio indicated that Gantz submitted his request to the government's secretariat, citing the Arab World News Agency. A few days ago, Gantz stated that he intended to make such a request amid increasing calls within Israeli society to investigate the accomplishments of the war. This comes days after the International Criminal Court's prosecutor requested the court to issue arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials, including the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, alongside Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, and Mohammed Deif on charges of committing war crimes. Gantz shared a video clip on the "X" platform, asserting that "it is not enough to take responsibility for what has happened; we must learn lessons and act to ensure it does not happen again." He continued: "To do this, it is time to form a government investigation committee, and I intend to present a proposal for its establishment soon," which indeed occurred on Sunday.
