China Imposes Sanctions on Five U.S. Military Companies

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has imposed sanctions on five U.S. military companies that supplied weapons to Taiwan. The ministry stated, "The United States has violated the 'One China' principle and the three Sino-U.S. joint communiqués by selling arms to Taiwan under various pretexts to impose unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies and individuals, seriously harming China's sovereignty and security interests, severely undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and grossly violating the rights and interests of Chinese companies and citizens."

It added: "In response to these serious violations and in accordance with Chinese law on countering sanctions, China has imposed sanctions on five companies in the U.S. military-industrial complex: BAE Systems Land and Armament, Alliant Techsystems Operations, AeroVironment, ViaSat, and Data Link Solutions." The ministry revealed that these restrictions include freezing the assets of these companies in Chinese territory and preventing organizations and individuals in China from engaging in any dealings with the mentioned companies.
