The Swedish Ministry of Defense has announced the start of a major military exercise, "Aurora 23," involving 26,000 participants, marking the largest large-scale training conducted on the territory of the kingdom in the past 25 years. The statement clarified that "the Swedish army, navy, air force, and militia units will participate in the exercises, which will mainly take place in the south of the kingdom and on the island of Gotland and its vicinity."
The ministry explained that "the purpose of the exercises is to enhance capabilities to confront an armed attack on Sweden. Aurora 23 is the largest national exercise of its kind in the past 25 years, involving 14 countries." According to the ministry, "in addition to the Swedish military, representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Finland, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Germany, and France are participating in the training."
