The Israeli army stated that its forces have controlled fire outbreaks sweeping through vast forest areas in northern Israel due to rockets fired by the armed group Hezbollah from Lebanon. Authorities have evacuated many Israelis living in towns close to the Lebanese border for months because of escalating fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. Israeli media reported minor injuries and fires breaking out in some homes. The Israeli army dispatched equipment and soldiers to help contain the flames that spread rapidly due to hot and dry weather, with six reserve soldiers sustaining minor injuries. The army stated, "Forces have controlled the fire outbreaks, and there is no danger to anyone's life at this stage." The Israeli Nature and Parks Authority reported that the fires have already spread across hundreds of acres. The national fire service indicated that its members worked late into the night at several locations, including the town of Kiryat Shmona, where they were attempting to protect a row of homes. The police announced the closure of roads and urged residents still in the area to evacuate.
