The Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, has been closely monitoring the developments in the border villages and towns "in light of the escalating Israeli aggression and its targeting of residential neighborhoods and Lebanese civilians, and the use of internationally banned weapons and munitions, specifically phosphorus and cluster munitions against forested areas around the towns of Alma al-Shab, Rmeish, Aita al-Shab, Dhahirah, Marwaheen, and Yaroun, as well as the hills of Kfarshouba and the Shebaa Farms." President Berri stated, "This is a scorched earth policy adopted by Israel, which targets both stone and humanity in the Gaza Strip, as well as along the entire Lebanese border with occupied Palestine," emphasizing that "what is happening with the fires ignited by internationally banned white phosphorus shells is the responsibility of the international community and all the international envoys gathering in the region." For this purpose, President Nabih Berri has remained in contact with the military leadership, the Ministry of Interior and Civil Defense agencies, as well as the firefighting unit of the Islamic Scout Movement to expedite and assist in extinguishing the fires.
