Iraqi Researcher Wins First Place at International Media Forum

The College of Media at the University of Baghdad announced today, Wednesday, that an Iraqi researcher has achieved first place in the master's research category at the fifth International Student Media Forum in the UAE.

The College of Media stated that "graduate student in the Public Relations Department at the College of Media, Ilaf Mahdi Saleh Abdul Qadir, secured first place in the master's research category at the fifth International Student Media Forum organized by the College of Communication at Al Qasimia University in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates."

It added that "the research titled (Utilizing Persuasive Strategies in Media Writing for Climate Change Issues - An Analytical Study of the ‘Women Journalists for Climate’ Facebook Page) was chosen as the best research in the master's category after competing with hundreds of researchers representing different countries around the world."

The Dean of the College of Media at the University of Baghdad, Ammar Taher, affirmed in the statement that "the achievement of our student in securing first place is a qualitative accomplishment, demonstrating the quality of education and training provided to graduate students, as well as reflecting our commitment to developing students' abilities and empowering them to achieve academic and professional success."

He explained that "this scientific achievement of our student coincided with the College of Media attaining first place in the Iraqi classification of public and private universities (IRU) overseen by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, where the Journalism Department ranked first with a score of (65.12), the Public Relations Department second with a score of (64.29), and the Radio and Television Department third with a score of (64.27), confirming our leadership and excellence and our methodical and studied progress toward achieving the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and our mother university, in enhancing the quality of scientific research and entering international repositories and classifications."

For his part, the Dean of the College of Communication at Al Qasimia University, Hisham Abbas Zakaria, congratulated the College of Media at the University of Baghdad and the researcher, expressing hopes for further academic and professional success.

It’s worth noting that the fifth International Student Media Forum was held on February 14, 2024, under the slogan "Our Environment is Our Responsibility," and witnessed participation from 18 countries worldwide, with 421 contributions from 26 international universities, covering a diverse array of media and communication issues in the digital age.
