Nagelsmann Calls Up Hummels and Müller in His First Germany Squad

The new coach of the Germany national team, Julian Nagelsmann, has called up veterans defender Mats Hummels and forward Thomas Müller to his first squad with "Die Mannschaft," which will play a tour in the United States. Hummels last represented Germany in 2021, while Müller returned to the squad in September under former coach Hansi Flick, replacing the young Jamal Musiala, who was absent due to injury.

Kevin Behrens, a forward from Union Berlin, has been called up for the first time at the age of thirty-two, alongside Chris Führich from Stuttgart and Robert Andrich from Bayer Leverkusen. However, Nagelsmann, who was dismissed from Bayern Munich and appointed last month to coach the four-time world champions, did not include Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can, who was a key player during Flick's tenure, also cut due to poor results, nor his teammate, center-back Nico Schlotterbeck.

Nagelsmann has reinstated Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, while forward Serge Gnabry (Bayern) and Leipzig defender Benjamin Heinrichs are absent due to injury. Germany will play friendlies against the United States in Connecticut on October 14 and against Mexico in Philadelphia on October 18.

Here is Germany's squad for the two matches:

**Goalkeepers:** Marc-André ter Stegen (FC Barcelona), Oliver Baumann (Hoffenheim), Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt), Bernd Leno (Fulham).

**Defenders:** Robin Gosens (Union Berlin), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid), Niklas Süle (Borussia Dortmund), David Raum (Leipzig), Malick Thiaw (AC Milan), Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen).

**Forwards:** Kevin Behrens (Union Berlin), Niclas Füllkrug (Borussia Dortmund), Kai Havertz (Arsenal), Thomas Müller (Bayern Munich).
