Turkey Raises Exit Fees Tenfold

Sources in the Turkish Ministry of Finance and Treasury have revealed plans to increase the exit fees from the country, as the ministry is considering raising the current fee from 150 Turkish Lira to an amount ranging between 1000 and 1750 Lira (over 50 dollars). Turkish media indicates that "this step aims to adjust the fees imposed on Turkish citizens planning to travel abroad." It is expected that "this proposed increase will provoke mixed reactions among citizens, as some may view it as an additional burden on the costs of traveling abroad."
