Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated today, in response to remarks made by U.S. President Joe Biden regarding the suspension of weapon shipments, that "76 years ago, we had no weapons and there was an embargo on Israel, and we won. If we have to stand alone, we will stand alone." He added, "If we have to stand by ourselves and fight with our nails... we will do it," indicating that "we will win the war thanks to our morale and heroism."
Netanyahu shared a clip from a speech in which he vowed that his country would stand alone if it had to. He posted the clip in English on his social media accounts without any additional commentary. In the clip, he said, "I tell world leaders: no pressure and no decision from any international forum will deter Israel from defending itself." He concluded, "As Prime Minister of Israel, the only Jewish state, I promise that if Israel is forced to stand alone, then Israel will stand alone."
Israeli media considered that Netanyahu used this clip to respond to President Biden's statement about Washington not sending weapons to Israel if a large-scale operation was initiated in Rafah, southern Gaza. Earlier on Thursday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called for avoiding "irresponsible" statements following a series of posts wherein Israeli officials attacked the American president after he hinted at halting the supply of arms to Tel Aviv.
