Lebanese Response to the French Document is Ready

The Lebanese response to the French document is reportedly ready, according to circulating information, and positivity prevails while awaiting the Israeli side's response. Israeli Channel 12 stated yesterday that "Israel is close to reaching an agreement with Lebanon similar to Resolution 1701, but the war in Gaza is delaying the agreement."

At the same time, sources accompanying the visits of international envoys to Lebanon and the international movement noted that "a set of factors has contributed to reducing tension along the southern borders and consequently a decrease in military confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel. The most notable of these factors is the progress in negotiations led by Egypt between Israel and Hamas regarding the anticipated truce between them as a precursor to reaching an agreement on a long-term ceasefire that helps in the release of prisoners."

According to the sources, the focus is on the roadmap presented by the French Foreign Minister to Lebanese and Israeli officials to de-escalate tensions, with a clear expectation for the French side to receive clear answers regarding the French proposals. It was pointed out that "the essential matter is Jumblatt's invitation to the Élysée Palace and his meeting with President Macron, which indicates the significant trust European leaders, especially France, have in Jumblatt to understand his perspective on pivotal issues concerning Lebanon and the region, as Jumblatt is seen by French officials as having a different reading on the repercussions of the Lebanese crisis and its resolution."

The sources considered that "the consecutive news from beyond the borders indicates progress in the French proposals aimed at reducing tensions between the Israeli entity and Hezbollah, which may assist in transitioning to the implementation phase of Resolution 1701. This atmosphere is distinctly reflected on the southern front, with a decrease in operations and attacks carried out by Hezbollah against Israeli targets and also a reduction in the number of airstrikes conducted by Israel against Hezbollah, alongside a decrease in Israeli military aircraft flights and the launching of drones towards border villages."
