The Kuwaiti Minister of Health decided today, Tuesday, to reduce the prices of 209 medications and pharmaceutical products in the private health sector, with some reductions exceeding 60% compared to their previous prices. The Ministry of Health stated in a statement that some of the medications included in the decision are used to treat hypertension and diabetes, while others are antibiotics, cholesterol-lowering medications, blood thinners, antispasmodics, among others. The statement indicated that this action comes "as part of the periodic review of medication and pharmaceutical product prices." The decision is set to take effect three months after its publication in the official gazette to give the private health sector sufficient time to prepare and implement the required price reductions.
