A strange phenomenon south of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, has caused fear and panic among Libyans due to the appearance of mysterious ground fissures. Activists shared images and videos on social media showing large cracks, some measuring 15 meters in length and 4 meters in width, in a farm located in the Olad Abu Aisha and Sebha area.
In response, the Ministry of Environment announced that a team from the environmental monitoring department in the Sebha area is observing these ground fissures to prepare a report and submit it to the relevant authorities in the ministry to determine their causes and potential risks.
Additionally, the Agricultural Police Agency published a statement on its Facebook account saying: "Due to reports in the media about cracks appearing in some farms in the Olad Abu Aisha area in the Sebha municipality, the Agricultural Police Center in Souq al-Khamis, affiliated with the Four Corners branch, proceeded to the farms in the Olad Abu Aisha area."
The statement further noted that the teams found fissures measuring 15 meters in length and 4 meters in width, affecting olive trees, with fissures in other farms reaching lengths of up to 200 meters and a depth of half a meter, located about 20 meters from an agricultural well.
