For over 8 weeks, the war on the Gaza Strip has been ongoing, with clashes intensifying in some areas in the north and east of the sector, as well as in the south, particularly in Khan Younis. On Wednesday, the Israeli bombing hit two houses in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, where Israel believes Hamas members are hiding in tunnels.
The bombardment resulted in the deaths of 11 people, according to the Palestinian Information Center, which noted that Israel struck a house in the Al-Amal neighborhood west of Khan Younis, killing nine people. Two Palestinians were killed and seven others were injured in an Israeli attack on a house in the Khan Younis camp.
Simultaneously, the Israeli army announced today that 10 officers and soldiers were killed during the ongoing clashes in the Gaza Strip yesterday. It was specified that among the dead was the commander of the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade, Major Tomer Greenberg, and a colonel from the “Yiftach” Brigade, as reported by local media.
Since the onset of the Israeli army's ground operation, the number of Israeli soldiers killed has reached 113, with more than 550 others injured. It is worth mentioning that Israeli forces had advanced into the northern sector weeks ago, but clashes continue in Jabaliya, Al-Shuja'iya, and Al-Zeitoun as well.
Last week, Israel launched a ground operation in southern Gaza, advancing to central Khan Younis, a city considered a stronghold of Hamas leaders, including the movement's leader in the sector, Yahya Sinwar, and Mohammed Deif, who are believed to be hiding in the tunnels, according to Israel. The war has cast a shadow over the people of Gaza, with more than 1.9 million of them displaced within the sector, according to UN estimates, amid a shortage of medical, food, and humanitarian aid.
