Lebanon Exits 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The Lebanon national football team has been eliminated from the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. They were unable to secure a direct spot in the final of the 2026 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, drawing 0-0 with Palestine in a match held on Thursday evening at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, home of Al Sadd Club in Doha, Qatar. The match took place under the watch of FIFA President Gianni Infantino amidst the penultimate stage of Group 9 in the dual Asian qualifiers.

Lebanon could not clinch the second position in the group, which was taken by Palestine, trailing Australia at the top. The Palestinian team advanced to the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup and secured a direct spot in the Asian Cup for the fourth consecutive time. Lebanon will conclude their qualifying journey with a match against Bangladesh on Tuesday evening at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha. Following this, they will continue to pursue qualification for the Asian Cup playoff.
