Overcoming the financing issue until a permanent solution is reached to prevent recurrence, the Iraqi state allowed the loading of the empty tanker docked in Basra with Iraqi fuel oil, enabling gas oil tankers to discharge their cargo at electricity production facilities in Lebanon, specifically in Deir Ammar and Zahrani. Acting Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced today that he discussed with the Iraqi Prime Minister the continued supply of Iraqi oil to Lebanon and the associated financial obligations, pointing out that "agreement was reached to continue this support, which will help resolve the current crisis." Mikati also thanked Iraq "for not hesitating to order the discharge of fuel cargoes," stating, "We will have a meeting in Baghdad after the Ashura commemoration to follow up on the matter."
