The Israeli Ministry of Health announced today, Friday, that there have been 31 deaths and 356 cases of West Nile fever reported in the country, alongside instructions for medical teams and guidance to ensure proper diagnosis and containment of the disease.
In a statement released this evening, the Ministry of Health indicated that "31 deaths due to West Nile fever have been recorded in Israel so far." It noted that "approximately 80 percent of those infected show no symptoms, while around 20 percent of the infected will exhibit symptoms of varying severity, including fever, general malaise, headaches, or widespread body aches, with neurological complications occurring in less than 1 percent of cases."
The ministry emphasized that "to reduce exposure to mosquitoes, it is recommended to use appropriate devices and supplies to repel mosquitoes in living areas, as well as to operate ventilation devices at the residence."
