Wildfires in California Force Thousands to Evacuate

Authorities in California, Western United States, have evacuated thousands of residents from their homes following the outbreak of several major wildfires. U.S. media reported that the Thompson fire in Oroville, north of Sacramento, the state capital, is the most dangerous thus far. A spokesperson for the police chief's office stated that approximately 13,000 people in Butte County are required to leave their homes. According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, no fatalities have been reported in the state so far due to the wildfires. Local authorities indicated that about 500 firefighters are battling the flames in Oroville, while investigations continue to determine the causes of the fires.
