Nikki Haley Faces Backlash After

Nikki Haley, the former Republican presidential candidate, wrote the phrase "eliminate them" on an Israeli artillery shell during her recent visit to Israel, amid an ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza that has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths over the past eight months. Danny Danon, a politician and former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, posted a picture of Haley squatting in front of a group of artillery shells, writing on one of them.

Another image shared by Danon also showed the message written by Nikki Haley, which read, "Eliminate them – America loves (Heart drawing) Israel, always," followed by her signature below the message. Danon accompanied Haley during the visit when she was the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under President Donald Trump.

Haley quickly faced criticism for her message from human rights groups. Amnesty International stated in a Wednesday statement regarding Haley's actions: "Conflict is not a place for tricks... there are rules in conflict... civilians must be protected." Kenneth Roth, the former executive director of Human Rights Watch, commented about Haley on the X platform Tuesday evening, "Why don’t I just sign that I support Israeli war crimes?"

Later on Wednesday, Haley wrote on X, "Israel must do whatever it takes to protect its people from evil. Israel is fighting America's enemies."
