Russian nutrition expert Dr. Alexey Kabanov revealed the harms and benefits of fresh juices, as well as the diseases that prevent some people from consuming them. In an interview with the Russian news agency Novosti, the expert stated, "Fresh juices usually do not have added sugar, and there is no doubt about their naturalness, but there is a downside to them. Fresh juice is very concentrated and acidic, especially orange juice, and drinking it on an empty stomach is harmful. Additionally, consuming these juices can exacerbate chronic gastrointestinal diseases and may increase stomach acidity."

According to him, eating whole fruits is the best product for the gut microbiome because the body also receives dietary fiber and not just fructose. The body absorbs fiber slowly, which provides greater benefits. He adds, "Drinking fresh juices leads to an increase in blood sugar levels, which raises the risk of diabetes, and for individuals who already have this condition, an increase in their sugar levels is unacceptable." He explains that blood sugar levels spike when consuming fresh juice because it only contains fructose and lacks dietary fiber, so it is absorbed immediately.
