Moscow Emphasizes to Jumblatt the Need to End the Presidential Paralysis and Strengthen State Institutions

The Lebanese ambassador to Russia, Chawki Bou Nasar, described the visit of former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt to Moscow as "extremely important," especially as it comes at a critical time, amidst the severe dangers that Lebanon and the region are experiencing due to Israeli attacks and the accompanying tensions in various areas, including Iraq, Syria, and extending to Yemen and the Red Sea, which signals a potential widespread explosion that could threaten global security and stability.

Bou Nasar stated, in an interview with the electronic newspaper "Al-Anbaa," that "the visit of Walid Bek, the historical leader, the official statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, and the warm reception he received from Russian officials all confirm the strength and depth of the historical relations that began during the Soviet Union with the martyr Kamal Jumblatt and continued and were strengthened with Walid Bek, and will certainly remain with Taymour Jumblatt, as confirmed by Russian officials who always express Russia's firm position regarding support for Lebanon and its stability and security."

Political sources accompanying Jumblatt's visit to Moscow noted the warm reception he received from Russian officials and their notable interest. They indicated through "Al-Anbaa" that the discussions addressed various international developments, where Jumblatt explained his perspective on these issues and listened to the Russian stance on the war in Ukraine, the developments in the region, the ongoing brutal Israeli aggression against Gaza, and ways to stop this aggression. The Lebanese file was also discussed, with an emphasis on the necessity of electing a president as soon as possible to end the paralysis occurring at the presidential level and to strengthen state institutions, especially in light of the increasing pressures on the overall Lebanese situation, both economically and security-wise, according to "Al-Anbaa" electronic.
