Protest Against Violations of Public Maritime Properties in Kfarabida Area - Batroun

A group of residents from Kfarabida and the surrounding area, under the slogan "#TheBeachForEveryone," announced a protest on the beach of the tower in Kfarabida to express their opposition to the violations occurring on public maritime properties. They are calling on the relevant authorities: the Municipality of Kfarabida, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the Ministry of Environment to take swift action to enforce the laws and protect public property.

This protest is scheduled for next Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. on the beach of the tower - Kfarabida - Batroun. The organizers clarified that the protest is a response to the actions taken by the owner of property 298 in Kfarabida, who has conducted land filling, concrete pouring, and planting on public maritime properties adjacent to her property, which is located on one of the most ecologically significant beaches in Lebanon.

After the relevant authorities were notified and did not take action against the violation of:

- Decision 144/S1925

- Decree No. 4810 issued in 1966

- The Madrid Protocol for the Protection of Coastal Areas signed by the Lebanese State in 2008, which became effective in 2017

- Goal 14 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda issued by the United Nations.
