American and British Airstrikes on Hodeidah Airport in Yemen

Media outlets affiliated with the Iran-backed Houthis reported that U.S. and British aircraft carried out three airstrikes targeting Hodeidah International Airport in Yemen. Since November, the Houthis have been launching missile and drone attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, claiming they are linked to Israel or headed to its ports. They assert that these actions support the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing war since October 7. The Houthis are allied with Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the "Axis of Resistance," which is supported by Iran and opposes the United States and Israel. Washington, an ally of Israel, leads an international naval coalition aimed at "protecting" maritime navigation in this strategic region through which 12% of global trade passes. To deter them, U.S. and British forces have been conducting strikes on Houthi positions since January 12.
