The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports issued a statement on Sunday evening regarding a video of a teacher who rented the Hassan Mustafa Sports Hall to conduct a final review session for high school students on geology. The statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports said: "In light of the incident concerning the rental of the Hassan Mustafa Hall, and due to the failure to adhere to the regulations governing resource development at youth and sports facilities, it has been decided to suspend the officials responsible for the hall until the investigation concludes."
The statement added that the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mohamed El-Shazly, announced the ministry's decision to refer the officials associated with the incident on October 6th for investigation, and to suspend the hall's executive director from work pending the outcome of the official investigations.
The statement noted that the decision came after "allowing a geology teacher to conduct private lessons in the hall on Sunday morning, as part of developing the hall's resources, but without referring to the governing legal regulations that manage such matters.”
The video that circulated on social media surprised viewers, especially due to the large attendance of students and the absence of any prior incidents involving the use of the sports hall for educational lessons.
