US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced humanitarian aid for Palestinians exceeding $400 million today, Tuesday, at a conference focused on humanitarian response for Gaza. He also urged other donors to enhance their efforts. Speaking at the conference held in Jordan, Blinken mentioned that Israel had taken some important steps to open more crossings to overcome obstacles preventing aid delivery to Gaza, but emphasized that Israel could and should do more. He called on Israel to take further steps to reduce civilian casualties.
The US State Department stated, "Antony Blinken welcomed reform announcements during a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Jordan today." The statement added that "Minister Blinken welcomed the reform announcements made by the Palestinian Authority and discussed with Prime Minister Mustafa the need for full and consistent implementation of these reforms to achieve the aspirations of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip." Furthermore, the statement noted that Blinken "reaffirmed the US support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with security guarantees for Israel."
