Syrian President Bashar Assad discussed today, Thursday, with King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, on the sidelines of the Arab League summit, the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields. Assad met with King of Bahrain during the 33rd Arab Summit and explored "the best ways to enhance relations among Arab countries in a manner that serves the interests and aspirations of their peoples," according to Syrian state media. They also touched upon "the bilateral relations between the two countries and how to enhance them in various fields."
Assad appreciated "the great efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain in preparing for the 33rd Arab Summit to ensure its success and strengthen Arab ties." Furthermore, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa emphasized "the Kingdom's commitment to restoring Syria's full well-being, strength, and stability," pointing to "the fraternal relations between Syria and Bahrain."
The Arab Summit statement affirmed the need to resolve "the Syrian crisis" in accordance with Resolution 2254, rejecting any interference in its internal affairs and any attempts to bring about demographic changes in the country.
