There is no calm on the southern front as Israeli shelling continues violently today, Wednesday. An Israeli drone struck a house in the town of Tir Harfa, igniting a fire inside. According to reports, the targeted house in Tir Harfa belonged to a member of the Ataya family and contains a drinking water purification station that caught fire. Firefighting teams are working to extinguish it.
The Israeli bombardment also targeted the town of Kafr Kila this afternoon, hitting a house, as well as the Selouqi Valley and the outskirts of the town of Houla. The Israeli forces launched illuminating bombs over the villages in the western and central sectors, and Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flew over the Tyre district and the coastal region.
Israeli fighter jets conducted three airstrikes this evening, targeting residential neighborhoods in the town of Aita al-Shab. The Israeli forces dropped illuminating bombs over the tents area - Mashal neighborhood.
For its part, "Islamic Resistance" announced that "in support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in solidarity with their valiant and honorable resistance, and in response to the enemy's repeated crimes and its targeting of civilian homes in Bint Jbeil, fighters from the Islamic Resistance targeted the Kiryat Shmona settlement (in the occupied town of Khalisa) with thirty Katyusha rockets at 04:30 this afternoon, December 27, 2023."
A statement from the Islamic Resistance reads: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, 'Permission is given to those who are being fought because they were wronged, and indeed, Allah is capable of granting them victory.'"
Media outlets in Israel reported a gas leak in "Kiryat Shmona" as a result of the Hezbollah rockets.
In a separate context, security and local sources told Reuters today that an Israeli airstrike on a residential area in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of a Lebanese-Australian man, his wife, and his brother, who belonged to Hezbollah. The strike occurred late Tuesday evening amid escalating tensions in the border area between the Israeli forces and Hezbollah, hitting a house in the town of Bint Jbeil.
