Lebanon will host the International Elite Basketball Cup for men's national teams from February 17 to 20, under the supervision of the Lebanese Basketball Federation and organized by Global Active Sports (GAS). The tournament was announced following a meeting on Wednesday morning between the President of the Lebanese Basketball Federation, Akram Halabi, the Executive Director of Global Active Sports, Ibrahim Dsouki, and managing partner Samer Saadeh, agreeing to host the International Elite Cup in Lebanon for 2024.
Six of the strongest teams in the region will participate, with their names to be announced later. This tournament is considered an important opportunity for the participating teams to prepare for the international window that will feature the Asian and African qualifiers for the continental championships. The participating teams will be divided into two groups, each consisting of three teams. Each team will play two matches in the first round. At the end of the first round, teams will be ranked according to their results. In the second round, the third-placed team from the first group will face the third-placed team from the second group to determine the 5th and 6th places, while the runners-up from both groups will compete for the 3rd and 4th places, with the group winners competing for the title.
Global Active Sports is the organizer of sports events and holds the rights to the Elite International Basketball Cup, which is associated with Doha Active Sports, a company that previously organized the Doha International Basketball Championship in September in the Qatari capital, Doha, featuring a selection of Asian and African clubs, with Beirut First winning the title.
