Jordan: Death of Rescuer Who Tried to Save Those Trapped in Amusement Park

Following his injury while on duty rescuing citizens trapped inside an amusement park in the Al-Russeifa area, the death of Jordanian Civil Defense paramedic Muhammad Majid Abu Al-Fawaris was announced today, Sunday. Jordan's Public Security Directorate spokesperson, Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, stated that a report was received by the Al-Russeifa Police Directorate about a malfunction involving one of the rides at the amusement park with a group of people inside. Rescue and ambulance teams from the Al-Russeifa Civil Defense Directorate immediately rushed to the scene. During the response to the malfunction, one paramedic of the rank of agent was injured and was taken to the hospital. All individuals were evacuated from the ride without injuries, except for several cases of panic. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.

In a statement, the Director of the Jordanian Public Security, Major General Obaidallah Abdul-Rahbeh Al-Ma'aytah, mourned paramedic Muhammad Majid Ahmad Al-Fawaris, describing him as a "martyr of duty." He extended condolences on behalf of himself and the members of the Public Security to the family and colleagues of the deceased.
