Israeli Airstrikes in the South… and Hezbollah Responds

Hezbollah's military media announced that "its personnel targeted soldiers' positions around the Mitaat barracks with appropriate weapons and achieved direct hits. They also targeted the enemy's artillery positions in Khirbet Ma'ar with appropriate weapons and achieved direct hits." In other statements, Hezbollah announced the targeting of the Ramim barracks with appropriate weapons, achieving direct hits, in addition to targeting a gathering of enemy soldiers in the Hunin barracks with appropriate weapons.

The party's military media had previously reported that "its personnel targeted the Samqa site in the occupied Shebaa Farms at 03:30 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, with appropriate weapons and achieved direct hits."

In response, the Israeli army announced it had targeted a military compound belonging to Hezbollah, indicating that "its personnel launched operations firing rockets towards northern Israel," and targeting a group "affiliated with Hezbollah that attempted to launch anti-tank rockets."

Israeli warplanes reportedly carried out airstrikes around five o'clock on the town of Aita al-Shaab, coinciding with the launch of an enemy drone that fired a rocket towards the outskirts of the town of Aitron. An Israeli drone executed an airstrike, launching a rocket towards a house in the Al-Baraka neighborhood of the town of Ainata, with the rocket striking the balcony of the house where two families were present, but it did not explode.

Moreover, Israeli warplanes conducted an airstrike around noon on the outskirts of Aita al-Shaab. There was also extensive overflight by Israeli warplanes in the eastern sector alongside airstrikes in the Salahani area between Ramya and Marouhin in the western sector. Four Israeli artillery shells fell between Dibble and Hanin.

Israeli military radio indicated that the air force is conducting a preemptive attack in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah's infrastructure. Additionally, Israeli media noted that air defense had intercepted a drone launched by Hezbollah from southern Lebanon.

Israeli reconnaissance aircraft had flown throughout the previous night and into the early morning above the Tyre area, the coastal area, and along the blue line adjacent to the border with Palestine, accompanied by the launch of illumination flares.

The Israeli army fired heavy artillery at the outskirts of the towns of Naqoura, Alama al-Shaab, Yarin, Al-Jibeen, Al-Duhayra, and Aita al-Shaab, while drone strikes targeted the Lobuna and Al-Alam mountains as well as Wadi Hamoul.

The Israeli bombardment of the town of Tair Harfa caused a fire in a water filtration facility, which firefighting teams worked to extinguish, along with damage to a home.

On the other hand, the number of displaced individuals increased following the Israeli escalation over the past two days, particularly from the villages facing continuous bombardment, with over seventy-five percent of the residents reportedly displaced.
