Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated that "it will not be possible to eliminate Hamas," following over 8 months of war in the Gaza Strip. In an interview with Israel's Channel 13, Hagari criticized Israeli politicians for not proposing an alternative to the movement in Gaza. He remarked that "talking about the elimination of Hamas is throwing dust in the eyes of the Israeli public," adding, "As long as the political level does not present an alternative to Hamas, then Hamas will remain." He concluded: "Hamas is an idea, and those who think it can disappear are mistaken."
