The Italian national team is preparing for its final group stage match in the UEFA Euro 2024 when it faces Croatia this Monday evening. According to "Football Italia," if the Azzurri succeed in overcoming Croatia, they will qualify for the round of 16 as the runner-up of Group B.
It added that upon qualification, they would face the Swiss team in the round of 16, as the latter finished the group stage in second place behind the leader, Germany. Germany managed to secure a valuable draw against Switzerland in the final seconds of the match, regaining the top spot while Switzerland dropped to second place.
On the other hand, if Italy finishes the group in third place, it will have to wait until all group stage matches are completed to see if it qualifies as one of the best four teams finishing in third place. If Italy does finish in third place and qualifies, it will have potential opponents based on the results later this week. In this scenario, the Azzurri could face Portugal, which qualified as the leader of Group F, or the leader of Group E, which includes Belgium, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
