Ethiopian Lamesha Germa, a silver medalist at the Olympics and World Championships, shattered the world record for the men's 3000 meters steeplechase at the Paris Diamond League meeting. This is the third world record broken on Friday. Germa surged ahead in the final lap to cross the finish line with a time of 7 minutes and 52.11 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 7 minutes and 53.63 seconds set by Qatari Saif Saaeed Shaheen on September 3, 2004, in Brussels.
