Barcelona Freezes Interest in Bayern Munich Star

Barcelona has been linked with the signing of a Bayern Munich star during the current summer transfer window to strengthen the team before the next season. According to "Football Spain" on Friday, Barcelona wanted to sign Joshua Kimmich, the Bayern Munich midfielder, as he was a primary target for the club, especially during the tenure of Xavi Hernandez as head coach.

The report added, "Despite the arrival of new coach Hans Flick, who previously managed Kimmich at Bayern Munich, Barcelona's interest in signing him has begun to wane." Kimmich's contract with Bayern runs until the summer of 2025, while several media reports suggest he is nearing a departure from the club this summer, as he has not reached an agreement with Bayern to extend his contract.

Additionally, Kimmich has been linked with several English clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, while Bayern is requesting between 30 to 40 million euros to allow their player to leave. The site concluded, "Barcelona is not planning to move towards Kimmich this summer. Xavi was a main advocate for him at Barcelona, but currently, there are other preferred targets such as Amadou Onana and Mikel Merino."
