UEFA Launches Investigation into Morata and Rodri Celebrations

UEFA announced on Tuesday that it has "initiated disciplinary procedures against the Spanish duo of Álvaro Morata and Rodri due to their behavior during the Euro 2024 trophy presentation at celebrations held in Madrid this month." The players chanted "Gibraltar is Spanish" on July 15, a day after the team won the European Championship by defeating England 2-1 in Berlin, during a public celebration in the Spanish capital. Gibraltar is a British territory located at the southern tip of Spain. The Gibraltar Football Association submitted an official complaint to UEFA regarding the chant, and UEFA has appointed an ethics and disciplinary investigator to assess whether the regulations have been violated.
