Jadon Sancho has returned to training with Manchester United for the first time in ten months, with a club source confirming that the winger and coach Erik ten Hag have resolved their differences. The source stated that Sancho and ten Hag held a positive meeting at Carrington training center, and both decided to end the disagreements dating back to last season.
Sancho (24 years old) played only three matches for United last season and spent the second half of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund after his relationship with ten Hag became strained in September. Ten Hag excluded the winger from his squad during United's 3-1 loss to Arsenal, stating that Sancho's performance in training did not guarantee him a place in the team. Sancho immediately criticized the coach on social media, accusing ten Hag of making him a "scapegoat."
He was removed from the first team and trained with the youth team at United before returning to his former club Dortmund in January, where he excelled during their Champions League semifinal win over Paris Saint-Germain, earning praise from ten Hag. Dortmund lost to Real Madrid in the final.
Ten Hag told reporters after Dortmund's 1-0 win over PSG in the Champions League first leg: "(Sancho) is a very good player... He showed why Manchester United signed him and that he represents high value for Manchester United, which is good. I'm happy for Jadon, for the performance, and we'll see what happens in the future."
Sancho will not travel with the team to Norway for a preseason friendly against Rosenborg, as he started training later than other players. However, a club source stated that he will be available for selection afterward.
