Tunisian President Qais Saied directed the dissolution of the office of the Tunisian Swimming Federation following the removal of the Tunisian flag at the Radès swimming pool after sanctions from the World Anti-Doping Agency.
In a statement published by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, it was noted: "Following the meeting chaired by President Qais Saied on the evening of Friday, May 10, 2024, at the government palace in Kasbah, after his visit to the Olympic pool in Radès, he issued instructions to take immediate legal and administrative actions against those responsible for the incident involving the removal of the national flag mural during the seventh edition of the Open Tunisian Master Championship, organized by the Tunisian Swimming Federation, including the dissolution of the office of the Tunisian Swimming Federation."
Consequently, the Ministry of Youth and Sports announced the following:
1. A decision to dissolve the office of the Tunisian Swimming Federation has been issued, along with a second decision to appoint a temporary office to manage its affairs, consisting of Mohamed Zaribi as president and members Maha Zhouari, Shakir Belhaj, and Said Elwonzarfi.
2. The Director General of the National Anti-Doping Agency was dismissed, with a senior official assigned to manage the agency.
3. The regional delegate for Youth and Sports in Ben Arous was relieved of his duties, with a senior official appointed to manage the delegation.
