The Major League Soccer (MLS) announced on Monday that Lionel Messi, the Inter Miami player, will miss the participation in the All-Star Game after suffering an ankle injury eight days ago, which caused him to not finish the Copa America final. Messi's name was included among the players not present in the MLS All-Star roster, which consists of players from 18 teams, for the match on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio against the best talents from the Mexican league. This match would have marked Messi's first appearance with the All-Star team after joining Inter Miami in July 2023 following a successful career in Europe. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in his first 12 matches with Inter Miami in 2024, making him the fastest player to contribute to 25 goals in a single MLS season.
