The Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Public Municipalities in Iraq announced today, Saturday, the completion date for the Baghdad – Kirkuk and Baghdad – Kut entrances, along with the percentage of completion. In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry's spokesperson, Nabil Safar, said, "The completion percentage for the Baghdad – Kut entrance from the Basmaya area has reached approximately 95 percent, and it will be completed within the current year 2024. As for the Baghdad – Kirkuk entrance from the Al-Shahab area, it has also reached a completion stage of 93 percent, and it is expected to be completed by the end of this year."
He added, "The remaining entrances are distributed between Baghdad Province and the Baghdad Municipality, the most important of which is the Baghdad – Mosul entrance, which is being worked on by Baghdad Province, with a government directive to hasten the completion."
He noted that "the ministry is currently working on addressing the bumps present on the Al-Azim Road, which is part of the Baghdad – Kirkuk route, and by the end of this year, all these issues will be resolved." He mentioned that "there are 82 weight stations that will be referred to investment, some of which have completed the requirements for referral to investment in cooperation with the provinces, aimed at controlling excess loads, providing special areas for weighing, in addition to preserving the roads from damage."
