Khalifa University of Science and Technology and the UAE Cybersecurity Council announced on Saturday the opening of the Khalifa University Cybersecurity Academy, which offers accredited training programs in both Arabic and English. The academy trains individuals, students, companies, and institutions in security-related issues through technological, organizational, and methodological processes, and provides certified certificates upon program completion.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Head of the Cybersecurity Council for the Government of the UAE, H.E. Hamid Al-Shammari, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Khalifa University, Dr. Ernesto Damiani, Director of the Physical and Electronic Systems Center at Khalifa University and Acting Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, and several academic staff and researchers.
Hamid Al-Shammari stated, "Khalifa University is pleased to partner with the Cybersecurity Council in the UAE to launch the Cybersecurity Academy, which is the first of its kind in the region. The academy will offer courses in both Arabic and English, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. The academy will also play a pivotal role in enabling individuals and institutions to protect the digital world through knowledge, training, and innovation represented by the distinguished expertise of researchers at Khalifa University."
Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti emphasized that "the opening of the Cybersecurity Academy at Khalifa University aligns with the council's efforts to enhance cybersecurity in the UAE, in addition to building qualified human capital in this vital field." He pointed out that "the academy's opening is a significant step forward in equipping individuals and institutions with the necessary knowledge and skills to protect our digital infrastructure," stressing that "securing the digital world has become crucial not only for protecting individual privacy but also for maintaining public trust in the UAE Cybersecurity Council."
He added, "Through the academy's comprehensive certification and training programs, individuals and institutions will be provided with the tools necessary to tackle the evolving challenges posed by cybersecurity threats, in collaboration with our partners at Khalifa University," noting that "knowledge transfer, training, and innovation are the only ways to ensure a safer digital future for the UAE."
He confirmed that "the Cybersecurity Council aims to make cybersecurity a common culture through various initiatives, including this academy, which will play a pivotal role in achieving this desired goal."
