A member of the Council of Senior Scholars and advisor at the Saudi Royal Court, Abdullah bin Suleiman Al-Mani'a, confirmed today, Thursday, that tomorrow, Friday, marks the first day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah.
According to Al-Mani'a, as reported by Saudi media, "Arafah Day will be on the Saturday after next, June 15, and Eid al-Adha will be on Sunday, June 16."
He explained that the month of Dhul-Hijjah begins on Friday, June 7, 2024, with a duration of 30 days, concluding on Saturday, July 6, 2024. He clarified that the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah will occur on the evening of Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 3:37 PM.
Al-Mani'a added: "On this day, the sun sets before the moon does, with the sun setting at 7:02 PM and the moon setting shortly after at 7:12 PM, resulting in a ten-minute difference."
He continued: "This indicates that the night of Friday is the night before the first day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, confirming that Arafah Day is Saturday, June 15, 2024, and Eid al-Adha will be on Sunday, June 16, 2024."
He also noted: "The month of Muharram 1446 AH will start on Sunday, July 7, 2024, lasting 29 days until it ends on Sunday, August 4, 2024."
