Amid ongoing tensions in the Red Sea, the Houthi group in Yemen announced that it carried out a joint military operation with Iraqi groups targeting four ships in the Israeli port of Haifa. The group stated that it attacked the ships because they violated the ban on entering Israeli ports, according to its claims. The Israeli army has yet to comment on the situation. For its part, the U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, announced that it successfully destroyed three Houthi maritime drones in the Red Sea. In a statement, it added that the Houthis separately launched three anti-ship ballistic missiles from an area they control in Yemen towards the Arabian Gulf. There have been no reports of casualties or significant damage to American, coalition, or commercial vessels. The Houthis previously announced that they targeted the ship Shorthand Express in the Mediterranean with drones; however, an American official confirmed that the announcement was "false." The U.S. aircraft carrier "Eisenhower" has returned to the Mediterranean. These developments come amidst increasing tensions in the Red Sea following Houthi attacks from Yemen on ships connected to Israel due to the war in the Gaza Strip.
