PLO Calls for the Surrender of Suspects in

The leadership of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) factions in Lebanon held a meeting today, Friday, at the premises of the Palestinian popular organizations in Sidon, to discuss the conditions in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, particularly the "military and security tension it has witnessed since the criminal assassination targeting the commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces in the Sidon area, Abu Ashraf al-Armouchi, and his brothers."

A statement from the leadership noted that "the Secretary-General of the organization, Fathi Abu al-Ardat, briefed the members of the PLO factions' leadership on the communications and meetings that took place from the date of the Palestinian joint action committee meeting held at the Palestinian Embassy on August 22 until today, especially the meetings between the leaderships of Fatah and Hamas, and between the leadership of Fatah and the Palestinian National Security and the leadership of the Ansar Brigade and the Islamic Jihad Movement."

The statement mentioned that "after extensive discussions and exchanges of opinions and ideas regarding the current situation in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, the participants confirmed the commitment of the PLO factions in Lebanon to maintaining security and stability in all Palestinian camps and gatherings in Lebanon and the brotherly Lebanese neighborhood, especially in Ain al-Hilweh." The leadership of the organization appreciated and highly valued all sincere efforts made by the Lebanese state and its military and security institutions, as well as by all the forces, parties, bodies, and religious, national, and social figures from both Lebanon and Palestine, to address the situation in Ain al-Hilweh, which resulted from the cowardly assassination targeting the commander of the National Security Forces in Sidon.

The leadership of the organization "announced its adherence to the statement issued by the Palestinian joint action committee, which emphasized the necessity of surrendering the suspects in the criminal assassination case that targeted the commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces in Sidon, Abu Ashraf al-Armouchi, and his brothers to the Lebanese judiciary. It welcomed any field step agreed upon between the factions and the national and Islamic forces and the leadership of the Palestinian National Security to ease the atmosphere and reduce the tension in all areas of the Ain al-Hilweh camp."
